Job summary

The Georgia Tech Ethics, Technology, and Human Interaction Center (ETHICx), together with the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral research fellowship, starting September 1, 2025, or as soon as possible after that. For this position, we are particularly interested in qualified applicants with interdisciplinary research expertise related to ethics, responsible innovation, and qualitative research methods and with interests in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and/or advanced manufacturing.

The postdoctoral research fellow will be part of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy and ETHICx research team associated with Georgia Tech's interdisciplinary AI Manufacturing Project. This is a major statewide initiative that combines artificial intelligence and manufacturing innovations with transformational workforce and outreach programs. The fellow will undertake research and engagement in projects on (1) the outcomes of AI and advanced manufacturing implementation in firms; (2) manufacturing workers' hopes and concerns about AI and advanced manufacturing; and (3) labor, skill, and resource effects of automation in additive manufacturing.

In addition to full faculty benefits, including health insurance and retirement, research fellows receive both research support and other services, including job market support for both academic and nonacademic positions in conjunction with other research fellows in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, of which the School of Public Policy is a unit.

Required qualifications

A Ph.D. in a relevant field, including science, technology, and society (STS); public policy, engineering and policy, or science and technology policy; management or innovation; ethics of emerging technologies, and others.

Ph.D. must be conferred before the start of the appointment, and not more than five years before the start of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications

Preferred candidates will have the following qualifications:

• Familiarity with qualitative research methods
