About Us

The Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics (DPAG) at the University of Oxford is a leading centre for biomedical research and education. Our mission is to advance discovery science by reconstructing physiological processes at molecular, cellular, tissue, and systems levels. This approach enables us to bridge fundamental biology with translational medicine and foster collaboration between the physical and life sciences. We are deeply committed to excellence in research and teaching, and to cultivating a diverse, inclusive, and supportive working environment for all staff and students.

  • Operate specialist laboratory equipment and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Represent the research group at seminars, conferences, and collaborative meetings.
  • Participate in joint projects with partner institutions and research teams.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in a relevant discipline with expertise in single-cell sequencing.
  • Proven publication record in single-cell analysis and mouse genetics.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or machine learning applications for data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple research activities.
  • Experience contributing to academic publications and presentations.
  • Strong communication skills, including grant writing and public speaking.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate research ideas and secure funding.
  • Experience in teaching or supervising students.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in research and workplace practices.

Desirable:

  • Personal Home Office Licence PIL (A, B) for mouse experimentation.
  • Skills in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, tissue culture, qPCR, ELISA, staining, electrophysiology, and calcium imaging.
  • Active engagement with sustainability and eco-friendly lab practices.
