Postdoctoral Research Associate in Attribution of Changes in Risk from Cyclones of Tropical Origin

We seek an enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) to work on the UK NERC-funded large grant “Hurricane Risk Amplification and Changing North Atlantic Natural disasters (Huracán)”. The position is available immediately and is a shared appointment between the Universities of Oxford and Edinburgh with equal time at each institution. Supervisors will be Dr Antje Weisheimer in Oxford, Prof Gabriele Hegerl in Edinburgh and Prof Ted Shepherd in Reading for both positions combined (Contact for Oxford: Weisheimer; for Edinburgh: Hegerl).

Applicants should hold a PhD (or close to completion) or equivalent in a highly quantitative, meteorology, physics, earth observation. Experience with post-qualification research and strong publication records would be essential as well as sufficient specialist knowledge in relevant approaches analysing weather or climate data, or data from related physical systems.

Fixed-term until 28 February 2027, with the possibility of an extension of up to 19 months.
