In connection with the conducted research project “Climate signals in Earth's Rotation: Impact on the interpretation of variations in Earth Orientation Parameters and their forecasting”, funded by the Polish National Science Center (NCN) we are currently looking for candidates for the position:

Skills/Qualifications
- PhD in Geodesy, Earth Sciences (including Geophysics), or a related field
- Basic knowledge of Earth system dynamics and global mass transport and distribution, with particular emphasis on the analysis, interpretation, and prediction of disturbances in Earth’s rotational motion
- Expertise in modelling mass changes in Earth’s liquid reservoirs based on contemporary geophysical and climate models and ground-based as well as satellite observations
- Very good programming skills (primarily in Matlab, Fortran, or others) and experience in numerical modelling and time series analysis
- Fluent command of English, both spoken and written (sufficient for independent work in an academic environment and for publishing research results)
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively in an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to write scientific publications

The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified in the Act of 30 April 2010 on the Polish Academy of Sciences (Chapter 8 Employees of scientific units and other organizational units of the Academy).

Eligibility criteria
A post-doctoral (post-doc) position is a full-time position for a person who obtained their doctoral degree in the year of employment in the project or within 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended by the time spent during that period on long-term (over 90 days) documented sick leave or rehabilitation benefits due to incapacity for work. Additionally, this period may be extended by the number of months spent on parental leave related to the care and upbringing of children granted under the rules set out in the Labour Code. In the case of women, it may be extended by 18 months for each child born or adopted, if this method of indicating career breaks is more advantageous.
The successful candidate will be selected in an open competition conducted in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulations on awarding funding for research tasks funded by the National Science Centre as regards research projects” (NCN Council Resolution No 84/2024 of 5 September 2024). The candidate must meet the requirements specified in these Regulations. The Regulations also define the criteria that will guide the selection committee evaluating the submitted applications. All applicants will be equally considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
