Postdoctoral Scholar-Depression Recovery
The Depression Recovery Center (DRC) and the Suicide and Trauma Reduction Initiative (STRIVE) in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health offer a one-year (with an option for a second year) post-doctoral clinical fellowship. The program offers specialized training in the assessment and treatment of depression using evidence-based individual and group interventions, such as Behavioral Activation (BA), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and in suicide prevention and trauma-related disorders using current gold standard treatment interventions, such as Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (BCBT) for Suicide Prevention, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE).
The fellowship will prepare trainees to provide a broad range of behavioral health services in an outpatient behavioral health setting, with a focus on assessment and treatment of depression and on treating high-risk patients experiencing suicidal thoughts and related behaviors and/or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition to providing clinical services, fellows participate in clinical supervision, didactics, and research activities as agreed upon with the mentor(s). Throughout the training year, fellows work closely with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., psychiatry, psychology, social work). Fellows will also have the opportunity to work closely with other DRC and STRIVE trainees and other psychology fellows in the department.
