"Post Doctoral Scholar"

The Post Doctoral Scholar will serve in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, College of Public Health at The Ohio State University and lead and support advanced research on West Nile virus (WNV) dynamics, with a primary focus on computational infectious disease modeling and quantitative analyses of field data. They will contribute to a multidisciplinary program exploring drivers and seasonality of WNV in a multi-species system. They will write code, use models and other quantitative or statistical analyses within life science, biological, or health research in order to test hypotheses about the biological system. They will write and assist with writing scientific manuscripts and prepare and give scientific presentations to communicate the results of this research. The Post Doctoral Scholar will also participate in other activities that aid development of the their researchers career, including presenting research at scientific conferences, teaching, project management, developing new studies, and collaborating on ongoing projects.

Required Education:

• PhD in biology, disease ecology, epidemiology (or related fields) or PhD in statistics, mathematics, or computer science (or related fields) with experience developing or using computational infectious disease models.

Required Experience:

• Experience coding and using models with data to answer questions or test hypotheses is required.
• Strong scientific writing skills, experience in manuscript preparation, and the ability to communicate research in scientific posters and presentations are essential.

Desired Experience:

• Candidates should have experience with quantitative and statistical analyses within life science, biological, or health research.

This position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before December 31, 2028, with possibility of renewal based on continued availability of funding and performance.
