Principal Software Engineer Identity and Access Management
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Software Engineer Identity and Access Management to provide specialist technical leadership in the design, development, and support of our identity management systems.
In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of innovative and reliable digital solutions that enhance learning, teaching, research, and operational services across the University.
- Provide specialist technical expertise in the design, implementation, and support of identity application, integration, and web service technologies in line with enterprise standards.
- Lead and support the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused case management, including triaging operational work and mentoring junior team members.
- Ensure compliance with governance requirements by maintaining high-quality documentation and adhering to source code control practices.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to technology strategies and service integration approaches.
- Participate in team planning and strategic initiatives, actively contributing to the Directorate’s objectives and fostering a positive team culture.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE
You are an experienced software engineering professional with strong technical capability and a passion for delivering enterprise solutions. You bring:
- Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience include experience with major identity management systems. Experience in SailPoint, Microsoft, ForgeRock platforms is appreciated.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing complex enterprise applications and integration technologies using modern frameworks and best practice design patterns.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, models, and specifications.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build effective working relationships.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex workloads and priorities.
- Experience leading or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience in higher education environments and familiarity with tools such as Git (desirable).
Additional Requirements for the role:
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and functional guidance to team members.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call support roster, including working outside standard business hours as required.
