Why Your Role Matters:

As the Procurement Manager, Corporate, you will play a pivotal leadership role within UNSW's Procurement Function and sit on the Procurement senior leadership team. This role leads the Corporate category, overseeing a portfolio with several hundred million dollars in addressable spend across consultancy and professional services, marketing and media, people and culture services, travel, logistics and broader corporate operations.

The Procurement Manager will partner closely with senior executives and Chiefs across the University, shaping commercial strategy, influencing major procurement decisions and ensuring robust governance across complex sourcing activity. With direct responsibility for leading and developing a procurement team, this role is critical to strengthening UNSW’s commercial capability and delivering measurable value across the Corporate portfolio.

This position is suited to an experienced procurement leader who is comfortable operating at executive level, managing significant spend and driving strategic outcomes within a large and complex organisation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead and deliver the Corporate category strategy across multiple high value spend areas, driving commercial value, risk management and sustainable sourcing outcomes.
  • Partner with senior executives and stakeholders to shape sourcing strategies, influence decision making and ensure early procurement engagement.
  • Oversee complex sourcing initiatives, negotiations and contract governance across consultancy and professional services portfolios.
  • Manage and optimise supplier panels and category performance, ensuring probity, compliance and value for money.
  • Lead, develop and grow a high performing procurement team, building capability and fostering a strong commercial culture.
  • Contribute to the broader Procurement leadership agenda and continuous improvement of procurement practices across the University.

Skills and Experience Summary:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with substantial and sustained experience, or equivalent capability gained through education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing significant philanthropic gifts in a target driven environment, including building and managing a strong pipeline of trust, foundation and corporate prospects.
  • Proven ability to establish, cultivate and maintain senior level relationships with national and international donors and influential stakeholders, with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Broad knowledge of fundraising principles, institutional giving and relevant tax and regulatory frameworks impacting charitable giving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high level and confidential proposals, briefings, presentations and reports.
  • Demonstrated capability in strategic planning, resource planning and project management across multiple stakeholder groups within large and complex organisations.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor, motivate and develop high performing teams.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel locally, interstate or internationally as required.
