Department Summary
Heavy focus on the leadership and strategy components of producing theater. Works directly with the Director of the School of Theater to build community involvement from the students, faculty, staff, and non-university stakeholders. Consistent strategic planning with the Dean and Director of the School of Theater is critical for Tantrum's continued alignment with Ohio University, advancing the quality of training at the School of Theater. Organize and lead a non-government board of advisors.
Leads the business and administrative operations of Tantrum Theater, creates and manages annual operating budget and projections in collaboration with the Artistic Director, School of Theater department administrator, and college leadership. Works with the college financial personnel, oversees administrative payroll; human resources (insurance, unemployment); procurement; takes primary responsibility for the preparation of financial materials required to complete proposals and reports for institutional grants, particularly with respect to project budgets and financial reporting; and tracks weekly/monthly contributed and earned revenue and pledges. Responsible for building professional connections; seeking out artists with the support of the Artistic Director; contract creation and management; negotiations with URTA, AEA, USA, and SDC members and their agents; creating short-term/overload contracts for faculty/staff/students that are in addition to their university or School of Theater responsibilities. The position collaborates with Tantrum Educational Coordinator, and additional staff as hired; interns, and volunteers in achieving day-to-day goals and completing administrative tasks.
External spokesperson for the organization working closely with the Artistic Director. Leads marketing for Tantrum Theater, working with the marketing team for the College, and other university partners (such as the Performing Artist Series) to build marketing and brand awareness. Leads external relations related to ticket sales, philanthropic, foundation, and grant support, including all advertising content and promotional messages. Works with the Education Director and the Director of Summer Programs to build and find external support for educational programming related to Tantrum.
Position Profile
Provides services related to the production and performance of fine and performing arts. Organizes exhibitions, performances, and events. Ensures that arts programs thrive and are accessible to the Ohio University community. Provides performance coaching and directs theater productions, including music, dance, and acting. Responsible for composition, arranging, and choreography. May involve teaching or training students in the management of theaters, venues, and artistic practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Master's degree in a related field, 8 or more years of related professional experience, and 5 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.
