Production Lead
About This Opportunity
UQ Print is seeking an experienced Production Lead to oversee the internal production function and ensure the consistent, high-quality delivery of printing services across the University. This role is responsible for coordinating daily production activities, allocating work to Print Coordinators, and ensuring deadlines, quality standards and customer expectations are met. You will provide operational leadership within a digital print and signage environment, while contributing to continuous improvement, sustainability initiatives and longer-term capability planning for the printing facility.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day production operations, including scheduling, workload allocation and meeting internal printing deadlines
- Manage and support production staff through effective supervision, mentoring and performance management
- Oversee production quality, workflow efficiency, estimating and complex job scoping to ensure high customer satisfaction
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including sustainable printing practices, equipment optimisation and process enhancements

About You
We are seeking a practical, hands-on production leader who thrives in a fast-paced print environment and enjoys balancing operational delivery with team leadership and stakeholder engagement. You will bring strong technical knowledge of digital print production, alongside the ability to organise workflows, solve problems and maintain high standards of quality and service.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of extensive production experience and specialist expertise
- Demonstrated production management experience within a digital print and signage environment
- Working knowledge of production software and workflows, including Adobe Creative Suite, imposition tools and production management systems
- Experience leading and supporting a production team, including allocating work, resolving issues and driving performance
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Experience with colour management and print quality control processes
- Experience in specialty printing, and scoping custom print and signage projects, including fabrication, and follow through with production management
- Demonstrate production management experience within a digital print and signage environment, including an understanding of inventory management
- An interest in sustainable printing practices and continuous improvement initiatives
