Professor Book and Media History
The Department of English at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, invites applications for a full or distinguished professor specializing in book and media history. We particularly welcome applicants whose research profile combines expertise in eighteenth-century literature with commitments to contemporary practices of reading and to creative and public-facing writing. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in student mentorship as well as significant experience in departmental and university administration. Experience securing outside funding for grad students and postdocs in England, North America and Europe a plus. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment.
The appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2026. All job offers are contingent upon successful pre-employment background screening prior to commencement of employment. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate will have a 2-2 course load and teach a range of literature and writing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
