Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have earned their doctorate in communication or closely related fields by the time of appointment in August 2026.
  • 5 or more publications in top-tier communication journals.
  • Proven record of teaching excellence in at least 3 undergraduate or graduate courses offered by the Department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Be able to teach communication theory at the undergraduate level.
  • Be able to teach quantitative methods courses at the graduate level.

Description:

The Department of Communication in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma seeks an accomplished senior scholar with expertise in communication and culture, organizational communication, and other topics of current departmental focus, such as health communication, interpersonal communication, persuasion, and/or communication technology. Experience teaching communication theory and quantitative methods is preferred. The successful candidate will have a publication record consistent with a top-tier public university, a strong record of mentoring and placing graduate students, and evidence of teaching excellence. This position is for a tenured Professor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct leading-edge communication research.
  • Teach a 2-2 course load in the undergraduate and graduate program.
  • Mentor graduate students and participate on graduate committees.
  • Serve on department committees, as needed.
