The College of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an exceptional academic leader for this distinguished professorial appointment. You will provide visionary leadership in teaching and research, advancing our national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in primary health care while making a lasting impact on the discipline of General Practice.
You will lead the General Practice Teaching Program within the Doctor of Medicine course and other programs, bringing innovative approaches to clinical placement education and assessment. Your research excellence will be demonstrated through high-quality publications, competitive external grants, and supervision of doctoral candidates. You have a driving passion for inspiring the next generation of general practitioners and your fellow industry colleagues, evident through your experience successfully publishing and co-supervising grant submissions, of which is a central responsibility of this position.
About You
The successful candidate will contribute to academic standards, educational policy development, and quality assurance processes while fostering collaborative links across the University, with industry and community partners, and with national and international institutions. The position operates within both University and Health Service environments and may include clinical activities.
You hold a PhD or equivalent qualification with a distinguished track record of clinical and teaching expertise in General Practice at tertiary level, including international leadership and collaboration. Your innovation in teaching methods maximises student learning outcomes, while your significant educational leadership inspires excellence among colleagues.
Your expertise in curriculum development and flexible delivery methods, including e-learning platforms, is complemented by significant contributions to the discipline at local, national, and international levels. You will also possess an international research reputation evidenced by sustained high-quality publications and competitive external grants, along with a longstanding history of successfully supervising research students. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills enable you to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and industry partners.
