The Hobby School of Public Affairs is pleased to invite applications for a part-time, non-tenure-track faculty position as Professor of Practice in Public Affairs for a Fall 2025 appointment.

The primary responsibility of this position is the instruction of undergraduate and MPA/MPP public policy and public affairs leadership courses - based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition, the position will assist with various seminars and, in some cases, events and outreach. Successful candidates will proactively support other Hobby School initiatives that involve the University of Houston, and the City of Houston as a whole. We welcome candidates whose professional experience includes public service at the state, national, and international level thereby preparing them to contribute to our commitment to excellence.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree preferred.
• Substantial public service (10+ years) of demonstrated leadership success at the state, Federal, and international level.
• Proficiency in teaching.
• Demonstrated success (or strong potential for) in mentoring in the public service arena.
• Possess, or show strong potential to develop, meaningful connections with public service colleagues locally, across the state, and internationally.
