The Institute of Medical Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University invites applications for the position of Professor. The successful candidate should demonstrate an outstanding and internationally recognized research record in the discipline of Medical Sciences, with particular expertise in histology, embryology, and medical biology, significant experience in leading research projects and teams, and extensive experience in teaching and mentoring students enrolled in the Medical Doctor (MD) programme.

Skills/Qualifications
The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:
- hold the title of Professor in the field of Medical and Health Sciences, or the title of Professor of Medical Sciences awarded under previously applicable regulations;
- have an outstanding and well-documented record of scientific achievement in the discipline of Medical Sciences, particularly in the fields of histology, embryology, cell biology, or medical biology;
- have a significant publication record, including papers published in peer-reviewed international journals;
- have extensive experience in leading nationally or internationally funded competitive research projects;
- have experience in establishing and managing research teams and in developing scientific cooperation with national and international academic institutions;
- have extensive experience in teaching students enrolled in the Medical Doctor (MD) programme, particularly in the field of histology;
- have substantial experience in the education and development of academic staff, including the supervision of doctoral candidates and the promotion of doctoral dissertations;
- have experience in preparing academic textbooks, monographs, or other teaching materials;
- demonstrate proficiency in English sufficient for conducting scientific research and international collaboration;
- be willing to designate Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, as their primary place of employment upon commencement of employment.
Specific Requirements
- Extensive experience in research and teaching activities within the discipline of Medical Sciences.
- Experience in conducting scientific research in the fields of histology, embryology, cell biology, or medical biology.
- Substantial experience in leading competitively funded research projects.
- Experience in establishing, managing, and coordinating research teams and organizing their scientific activities.
- Experience in scientific collaboration with national and international academic institutions.
- Extensive experience in teaching students enrolled in the Medical Doctor (MD) programme, particularly in the areas of histology, embryology, or cell biology.
- Experience in developing and coordinating educational programmes and in preparing academic textbooks or other teaching materials.
- Significant experience in the training and development of academic staff, including the supervision of doctoral candidates and serving as a doctoral thesis supervisor.
- Experience in managing a research and teaching unit or holding leadership positions within higher education institutions.

Eligibility criteria
- The quality, originality, and international significance of the candidate`s research achievements in the discipline of Medical Sciences, particularly in the fields of histology, embryology, cell biology, or medical biology.
- The quality and impact of the publication record, taking into account publications in prestigious scientific journals and the recognition of the candidate`s scholarly achievements within both the national and international scientific communities.
- Experience and demonstrated success in leading competitively funded research projects and in securing external research funding.
- Experience in establishing and leading research teams and in developing national and international scientific collaborations.
- Teaching achievements, in particular experience in delivering and coordinating courses in histology, embryology, cell biology, or other morphological sciences within the Medical Doctor (MD) programme.
- Achievements in the education and development of academic staff, including the number and quality of supervised doctoral graduates and experience in mentoring early-career researchers.
- Organizational and leadership experience in higher education, particularly in managing a research and teaching unit and in the organization of medical education.
- The submitted vision for the development of research and teaching activities, as well as the candidate`s planned contribution to the further development of the Medical Doctor (MD) programme and the Institute of Medical Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University.
Selection process

- Diplomas or certificates issued by colleges and universities attesting to education and degrees or titles held (in case of academic degrees obtained abroad - the documents must meet the equivalence criteria set out in Article 328 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742 Polish: Dziennik Ustaw 2024 poz. 1571 t.j.);
- Information on the Applicant’s research, teaching and organizational achievements,
- Other documents as determined by the competition committee.
- Consent to the processing of personal data as follows: In accordance with Article 6 (1) (a) of the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016. (OJ EU L 119/1 of 4 May 2016) I consent to the processing of personal data other than: first name, (first names) and surname; parents' first names; date of birth; place of residence (mailing address); education; previous employment history, included in my job offer for the purpose of the current recruitment.
Documents must be submitted to the Faculty Administration Office by 31 August 2026, quoting the competition reference number at the Office of the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for University Development (Collegium Minus, ul. Wieniawskiego 1, 61-712 Poznań, Room 107, First Floor).
Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
- Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
- Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
- Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
- Interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements.
- The committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates' work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation.
- The chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates. This information will include justification with a reference to candidates' strengths and weaknesses. Submitted documents will be sent back to candidates.
