Program Coordinator I (Int'l Health Education - Observership Program)

Position Summary

The observership program at Boston Children's Hospital provides knowledge of best practices to improve pediatric care worldwide and promotes a collaborative environment for exchange of ideas. Observerships are informal learning experiences and do not constitute formal training or patient contact. As part of the curriculum, observers may shadow clinical activities and procedures and attend daily rounds, lectures, seminars, and other interdisciplinary conferences occurring in the hospital.

The Program Coordinator I supports the day-to-day operations of the Observership Program by managing application workflows, maintaining accurate program tracking, and coordinating next steps with internal contacts and external applicants. The role also provides operational support for broader International Health Education initiatives. This is a hybrid position based in Boston, with 2-3 days onsite required per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the day-to-day administration of the hospital's centralized Observership Program, coordinated through International Health Education.
  • Coordinating pre- and post-acceptance processes for the Observership Program application processing, program communications with external applicants as well as internal departments, and ownership of onboarding coordination with Human Resources and Occupational Health Services.
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date tracking of applications, decisions, and onboarding status across multiple active programs.
  • Leading orientation sessions and tours; serving as the primary informational resource for visitors. Coordinating observer networking and professional events.
  • Assisting with process improvement efforts and identifying gaps or issues in workflows.
  • Providing general program support and assisting members of the team, including through contributing to the development of new educational programs and developing marketing collateral.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 1 year of relevant experience required; experience in program coordination, operations, or administrative roles supporting program operations required.
  • Previous experience working in healthcare, academic programs, or international education preferred.
  • Experience supporting onboarding, compliance, and/or scheduling workflows preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes. Experience the benefits of passion and teamwork.
