Job Description Summary / TWC Summary: The Program Coordinator for TSU Breast Cancer Screening and Prevention Center (TSU BCSPC) plans, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of TSU BCSPC. Supervises staff employees, student workers, programs, and processes. Performs and manages routine clerical and administrative duties related to the operations, functions, and activities of TSU BCSPC. Generally, provides direct support to Director and leaders of TSU BCSPC. Report directly to the TSU BCSPC Program Director.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Program Coordinator TSU BCSPC is a highly collaborative, self-motivated, creative person that is adaptable to new processes with capacity to function independently. The Program Coordinator is knowledgeable (or able to become knowledgeable) of current Breast Cancer health trends that can be developed into programs implemented at both the individual and community level.

Essential Duties Summary:

  • Breast Health promotions, Community Engagement, and Outreach (~60%):
    • Cultivate and maintain community relationships and network to foster program recruitment efforts
    • Verify eligibility of individuals and recruit appropriate candidates for breast cancer screening through TSU BCSPC and support care coordination including scheduling and navigation
    • Plan, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed Breast Cancer health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services
    • Develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for Breast Cancer health promotion programs and services
    • Communicates findings of breast care services as appropriate in an effective manner and compiles all data required for progress report
    • Develop, implement, and analyze periodic community surveys that 1) provide baseline and follow-up Breast Cancer health data, 2) identify program needs and priorities, 3) evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, and 4) track community Breast Cancer health status and behavior
    • Coordinates and tracks deliverables of TSU BCSPC
    • Prepare materials, coordinates, attends, and participates in Breast cancer education sessions, mobile mammogram screening events, outreach events, conferences, and networking activities
    • Serves as direct contact for TSU BCSPC
  • Administrative (~30%):
    • Ensure day to day operations of TSU BCSPC
    • Vets and updates all information shared through TSU BCSPC
    • Maintain accurate event calendar and communicate event details with the team
    • Coordinate/schedule outreach events, meetings, conferences, room reservation, and travel plans
    • Prepares meeting agendas and minutes of meetings
    • Initiates and completes agreements for speakers, consultants, and professional service providers
    • Compiles all data required for progress and financial report
    • Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate paid and/or volunteer student staff/interns
    • Maintains program website and social media platforms
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Financial (~10%):
    • Tracks and reconciles program expenditure
    • Orders and maintains program supplies
    • Initiates requisitions, tracks purchase orders and ensures timely payments of all invoices

% FTE: 1.0

Hiring Range: $55,038.89 - $70,174.59

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a most relevant degree area which include public health, health promotion, health policy, social work-related degree, or health education.

Preferred: Master’s degree preferred but not required

Required Licensing/Certification: None Required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skill in:
    • Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational presentations, discussion, and facilitation
    • Demonstrated skills in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft outlook, Teams, office 365)
    • Supervisory skills to effectively manage student staff or volunteers
    • Quantitative and qualitative research skills or willingness to learn skill (e.g., research design, survey development, community engagement studios/focus group design and facilitation, data analysis and interpretation, etc.)
    • Professional writing, publications, and/or presentations or willingness to learn skill
    • Detail oriented, Problem-solving, decision-making, multitasking and time management
    • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, with strong public speaking skills
    • Demonstrated experience in effective conflict management and resolution
  • Ability to:
    • Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and adhere to organizational objectives
    • Able to work in a team and produce quality output under tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and exercise sound judgment
    • Independent use of technology, virtual meeting platforms, and social media

Work Experience: Two years relevant experience.

Preferred: Bilingual i.e proficient in English and Spanish

Working/Environmental Conditions: Routine office environment, mobile health unit, sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program. Some travel locally and to surrounding counties in the greater Houston area is expected (~35%) with mileage reimbursement
