Program Coordinator
Position Overview
This position is for a coordinator of the NIH-funded KU-Haskell Bridge program. This program is a research training program that supports Haskell undergraduates in research and professional development and transferring to KU for a terminal degree in a bioscience field. The coordinator will support most aspects of the program, including planning program events and activities, providing direct trainee support, and program administration and operations (see job duties below).
Job Description
50% - Direct trainee support
- Assist with recruiting new applicants
- Onboard new applicants into the program
- Provide technical and logistical support for trainees
25% - Program events and activities
- Assist with developing, planning and scheduling events and activities that align with the program goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with other programs and venues for event planning.
- Disseminate information about program events and activities to the participants and broader community.
25% - Program administration and operations
- Track and document program data
- Maintain program website
- Create and disseminate program materials
- Provide administrative and grant operations support
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalency and five years of related experience OR Bachelor's plus one year of related experience.
- Experience with at least two of the above three duties over a 1-year period (Direct trainee support, program events and activities and program administration and operations).
- Knowledge of KU and/or Haskell operations and organization, and experience or interest in working with undergraduates from Haskell and KU as demonstrated by application materials.
- Sensitivity to the specific needs of the communities involved.
- Experience working across different programs to coordinate activities and events
- Availability to occasionally meet in person with trainees, programming staff and other KU and Haskell community members.
- Organizational skills, including the ability to independently identify the needed steps of a multi-step project and track their completion, as evidenced in application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM or STEM-adjacent field.
- Experience with planning events and activities.
- Experience with interacting with a variety of people.
- Experience working within a team environment.
- Experience communicating among team members and outside the team and other groups.
- Experience or interest in working with undergraduates from Haskell and KU.
