Position Summary
This position will serve as the program coordinator and academic coach for the Scholarship Collective in Durango’s Advancement & Support Hub ( DASH ) supporting operations for all student programs housed within the office. This position will coordinate all aspects of the Forward Together Scholarship including managing the student recruitment/selection process, program promotion, overseeing the program budget, and designing student support/engagement activities. The position will also provide direct student support including one-to-one academic coaching and developing and coordinating group activities for the learning community. The position will assist scholars in accessing academic and student success support resources available at UNO, as well as maintaining knowledge related to community-based resources available to students. The Program Coordinator will also work with the families of these students to inform and educate them about the university learning experience. In addition to coordinating these efforts, this position will support Durango’s Advancement & Support Hub operations by serving as an academic coach for students, assisting in supporting the DASH Peer Mentor program, involvement in strategic planning for the office, and other duties as assigned. Flexibility and a positive attitude is key to being successful within this student-centered environment.

Job Duties

Responsibility Area: Manage Scholarship Operations
Duties:
Manage operations including student recruitment and overseeing the selection process of new students, organizing promotional and outreach materials, cultivating and maintaining relationships with local and regional high school counselors and community partners to promote awareness of program. Manage program budget to ensure proper stewardship of funds and serve as liaison to Office of Financial Support & Scholarships. Plan and lead orientation for new students as well as engagement activities and support programming for students. Represent the DASH Scholarship Collective on various UNO campus committees.

Responsibility Area: Academic Coaching
Duties:
Educate, coach, and support the Scholarship Collective and other students served through Durango’s Advancement & Support Hub with academic & career related decisions. Monitor student progress toward short-term academic goals and long-range educational plans. Meet regularly with students in individual and group meetings to monitor progress. Provide intentional coaching including development of academic recovery plans for scholars not meeting program standards, as well as students supported through Durango’s Advancement & Support Hub who are not meeting university academic standards.

Duties:
Support DASH office operations including event planning, peer mentor support, strategic planning, office projects.

Duties:
Assist with the development, gathering, and analysis of assessment data for all programs within Durango’s Advancement & Support Hub. Prepare annual reports to share with program stakeholders and campus leaders.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
Required Experience
One year of experience working in educational setting such as teaching and/or student support programs.
Required License/Certification
Required Additional Qualifications:
Commitment to working with all students, as well as other faculty and staff partners across the university campus and community.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree in a related field (counseling, psychology, student personnel, social work, education, student affairs, etc.)
Preferred Experience
Experience working with college students in a university environment or pre-college bridge programs. Possess knowledge of current and emerging trends concerning students in transition and college student success; knowledge of learning strategies, academic success skills, motivational techniques, and basic counseling principles; excellent interpersonal communication skills; strong collaboration skills; and the ability to synthesize and take action on complex information.
Preferred License/Certification
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Bilingual proficiency preferred.
