"Program Director- International Students and Scholar Services"

The targeted salary for this position is $4,271 per month. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

As a part of the Center for International Education (CIE), the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) staff provide advice, counseling, and advocacy on immigration, cultural, financial, academic, and personal concerns, and make appropriate referrals when necessary. Under the general direction of the Director of the CIE, the Program Director of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) provides leadership to, and professional support for all university efforts supporting international student and scholar services.

• Lead the International Student & Scholar service team, which consists of a Communication & Ed., Programs Coordinator, and two Immigration Specialists.
• International Partnerships and Global Engagement-Develops, directs, coordinates, and evaluates international partnerships and collaborations in alignment with Southern Illinois University’s strategic global engagement goals. This includes initiating and maintaining institutional relationships, supporting academic and administrative units in executing international agreements, and ensuring compliance with university policies and international education standards.
• Oversight of International Recruitment Agencies-Leads the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing management of international student recruit agencies. This involves identifying and vetting prospective partners, negotiating and executing agency agreements, monitoring agency performance, and ensuring alignment with SIU’s enrollment management goals and ethical recruitment practices.
• The Director is responsible for managing the F-1 and J-1 programs for the University including immigration certification, reporting, administration, and advising, as well as the development and delivery of support services for international students and scholars.
• Fulfill all duties of PDSO and RO as required by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program/SEVP and serve as a resource and consultant on student and scholar immigration issues.
• Oversee all SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) compliance functions.
• Supervise and assist the Communication & Ed., Programs Coordinator’s efforts in educational, cultural, social, and leadership development programming with a focus on international-student support areas (e.g., orientation, peer mentors, clubs & orgs, cultural events, immigration advising, career support, health & wellness, cultural adjustment, etc.).
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a related field.
• A total of two (2) years (24 months) of full-time work experience working with international students and overseeing international agreements.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
