Program Manager

PROGRAM MANAGER, Mechanical Engineering - The Initiative for New Manufacturing (INM)

to provide day-to-day operational and administrative leadership for its industry consortium. Working closely with the Executive Director, this role helps ensure INM delivers high-value, high-impact, and high-touch engagement with its member companies while strengthening INM’s visibility across MIT and the broader manufacturing innovation ecosystem. The Program Manager supports relationships with INM’s current consortium members, manages engagement activities, tracks seed grants and research collaborations, and helps plan and deliver major events. This individual serves as a key connector among industry members, MIT faculty and researchers, and external collaborators. Key responsibilities include managing member engagement, monitoring funded research projects and deliverables, coordinating reporting, and maintaining accurate records of member commitments and consortium agreements. The Program Manager will establish and manage information-tracking systems such as HubSpot, SmartSheet, and InfoReady, participate in monthly member meetings, and work with MIT administrative offices to support contracts and compliance processes. This role also contributes to strategic planning for consortium growth and member engagement, including collecting and analyzing feedback, identifying opportunities for expansion, and ensuring activities remain aligned with INM’s mission and industry needs.

Job Requirements

  • REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree; a minimum of three years of administration or operations experience and/or project/program management; experience in an industry or industry-facing academic setting; strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills; and experience working in interdisciplinary teams; and high level of discretion, tact, and professionalism.

Appointment will be for one year with the possibility of extension.
