This interesting and varied role holds a senior and responsible position at the centre of the Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach department (UAO). The role is part of the department’s Leadership Team with responsibility to ensure that programme delivery aspects effectively link with the administrative functions of the department.

About the Role

The role will support the programme and workstream leads to identify their expected outputs and outcomes and engage with their stakeholders and evaluators. The role will also involve servicing committees’, overseeing and tracking budgets and preparing reports on activities and finances to relevant committees and working groups.

It is important that the post holder’s responsibilities are achieved in the context of the University of Oxford to attract, support and admit the best students from all backgrounds, especially ones from backgrounds that are under-represented at Oxford. Therefore, it is essential that the post-holder understands this context and actively undertakes research to ensure that their understanding is current and relevant.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for managing and driving effective delivery of the outreach programmes from UAO. The post-holder will lead on future external funding for UAO, including preparing funding proposals with full economic costing models, working with the Director to ensure these are aligned with the University’s access strategy. Work closely with the University’s Development Office to present these proposals to philanthropic donors, foundations and other groups interested in access at Oxford.

About You

  • You are experienced in project management and managing systems.
  • You have extensive experience in managing a portfolio of complex and important activities: the ability to prioritise, manage time and deliver to deadlines.
  • You have strong and proven financial management skills.
  • You have excellent oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues
  • You take pride in being accurate, working independently and effectively within a team
  • You have strong experience of line managing.
  • You are confident with IT systems especially Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, as well as financial systems, preferably Oracle.
