Programme Officer - Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative

The Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) in the Nuffield Department of Medicine is seeking a Programme Officer to fill a short-term role to lead the planning and delivery of the second annual meeting for the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative, a high-profile initiative delivered in partnership with Science for Africa (SFA) Foundation, based in Nairobi, and Mastercard Foundation.

You will work closely with the Senior Programme Manager and stakeholders at PSI and SFA Foundation to support the planning and delivery of the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative 2026 annual meeting. You will assist with maintaining programmatic trackers and plans, supervise the event-related work of the PSI Administrative Assistant for the Collaborative, manage the event risk register and ensure that appropriate health and safety and safeguarding measures are in place, ensuring a fully collaborative approach with SFA Foundation stakeholders at all stages.

It is essential that you are educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field (such as international development, global health, or African studies), along with experience in project management, administration and events organisation within a large research organisation. You will have experience operating within a diverse matrixed environment, working to engage, coordinate and build consensus between multiple individuals with conflicting priorities, including the ability to handle sensitive structural power dynamics. You will have experience in chairing multi-stakeholder meetings, and excellent planning skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in written and spoken French would be an advantage.
