Project Coordinator (Full-Time)
The Culture, Emotion, and Health Lab in the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University Steinhardt is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to support the WOO (Writing for Oneself and Others) Study, working closely with Dr. William Tsai. The Project Coordinator will manage day-to-day activities, including participant recruitment and retention, data collection, data processing, data cleaning, and data monitoring. The role also includes supervision and training of at least 6 undergraduate and graduate interns, ensuring compliance with IRB requirements, and facilitating communication among team members. In addition to the primary responsibilities listed below, there may be opportunities to conduct mentored research, submit presentations to conferences, and assist in preparing manuscripts for publication. Graduates interested in applying to PhD programs in Psychology are especially encouraged to apply.
The WOO study is a 3-year grant-funded study examining two randomized controlled trials of a writing intervention for 1) Chinese international students and 2) Chinese college students in China. The study also aims to develop an online resource showcasing curated writing content provided by participants of the study. Accordingly, applicants must have native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and can read and write in Simplified/Traditional Chinese.
Position Responsibilities:
- Recruit and screen potential participants for research
- Assist in training and direct the work of interns
- Organize events for participant recruitment and engagement
- Use statistical and database management programs to track participants and prepare summary narrative reports, tables, charts, and other illustrations
- Monitor data quality, including ensuring adherence to study protocols
- Launch, maintain, and monitor Web-based surveys (i.e., Qualtrics)
- Assist in running research participants through the study protocol (e.g., providing informed consent, setting up digital equipment for virtual reality simulations and Web-based surveys, completing brief semi-structured interviews)
- Assist in the preparation and management of human subjects applications, consent forms, and progress reports for institutional review board and study sponsors
- Create and manage documentation for study procedures
- Purchase and order supplies for the study, dispense participant compensation, and file expense reimbursements
- Conduct literature reviews to assist with manuscript preparation and report writing
- Occasional evening and weekend availability for participant engagement and data collection
- Perform related duties as required
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be hybrid, with an average of 1 day/week on campus.
This position is a supervisory role and is expected to supervise up to 6 undergraduate and graduate interns.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience as a Research Study Assistant OR equivalent education/experience
- Experience working with Chinese populations
- Ability to speak Mandarin, and read/write Simplified/Traditional Chinese
- Experience working in human subjects research lab

Time Frame:
This is a one-year position with potential to renew for up to one year.
