Overview
This position is open until filled with an initial application review to take place after January 29, 2026.
The pay rate for this position is $100 per instructional hour during the period in which the course is scheduled and actively offered.
Reporting to the Program Manager, and under the direction of SDSU Global Campus, the Instructor is responsible for delivering applied, online instruction within the Professional Certificate in Project Management. This role focuses on teaching practical procurement practices as they are used in real-world, project-driven environments.
The instructor leverages current industry experience to guide learners through core procurement activities, including sourcing strategies, contract and vendor management, negotiation, risk mitigation, and cost control. Instruction emphasizes execution over theory, using real scenarios, case-based learning, and industry-standard tools to connect procurement decisions directly to project performance and outcomes.
Successful performance in this role requires strong instructional and facilitation skills, demonstrated practitioner expertise in procurement and project delivery, and the ability to effectively engage learners with diverse professional backgrounds and experience levels.
Responsibilities
Classroom and Instruction Related 90%
- Deliver instruction in accordance with SDSU Global Campus policies, procedures, instructional standards, and approved course delivery models, including virtual synchronous and asynchronous formats as directed.
- Develop, organize, and deliver online instruction that emphasizes applied learning and integrates core procurement and project management competencies.
- Continuously update course content to reflect current and emerging procurement practices, tools, regulations, and industry standards relevant to project-based environments.
- Design and deliver instructional materials and learning activities that align with approved course objectives, program outcomes, and real-world application.
- Establish clear, measurable learning outcomes and design assessments that effectively evaluate student mastery of procurement competencies within project management contexts.
- Evaluate student performance consistently and objectively; provide timely, constructive feedback; and submit grades in accordance with established timelines and university policies.
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute course syllabi and approved course outlines in compliance with program, divisional, and accreditation requirements.
- Apply inclusive and adaptive instructional approaches to effectively support learners with diverse backgrounds, experience levels, and learning styles.
- Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) to support content delivery, communication, assessment, and student engagement.
- Maintain accurate academic records and uphold the confidentiality and integrity of student information at all times.
Non Instruction Related Support 5%
- Work with the Program Manager and Program Advisor to develop, confirm, and maintain consistent assigned course schedules at least one year in advance.
- Ensure assigned course(s) are delivered as scheduled and communicate promptly regarding any issues or changes impacting course delivery.
- Support program growth by contributing to student recruitment and enrollment efforts, including course promotion and engagement with prospective learners, as appropriate.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated practical expertise in project-based procurement, including sourcing, contracting, and vendor management across the project lifecycle.
- Experience teaching in online or hybrid instructional environments, with demonstrated experience supporting adult learners in professional, continuing education, or workforce development settings.
- Ability to design and deliver instruction that translates industry practice into effective learning experiences for adult learners.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to support instructional delivery, assessment, and student engagement.
- Ability to adapt instructional approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Ability to effectively leverage instructional technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
- Commitment to maintaining current knowledge through professional development, industry participation, and ongoing engagement with procurement and project management practices.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a subject matter expert in designated focus of deliverables as defined by either a degree, certificate, and/or equivalent progressively professional experience that can be exchanged on a year for year basis.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required, along with demonstrated professional experience in project-based procurement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates competencies teaching in an online environment
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Experience teaching procurement, contract management, or related topics within a project management or project delivery context.
