The Opportunity

This position will play a key role in the oversight and management of a research program within the School of Population Health, titled the Healthy & HomED. The purpose of the position is to provide research project management support to the co-design, implementation and step wedge randomised controlled trial of the Healthy & HomED model of care for people experiencing homelessness in six Australian Emergency Departments (ED), across Queensland and New South Wales.

The Project Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the program including office administration, HR, budgeting and financial reporting, space and physical resources management, communications and marketing, and OH&S, and is the key liaison within the program for the University divisions that oversee these functions including Finance and Resource Planning, Human Resources, Office of Research and Office of Commercial Services.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience in a university or research-intensive environment.
  • Healthcare system experience relevant to the Healthy & HomED study context is highly desirable.
  • Proven project management experience of a multisite randomised controlled trial, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic management of the project plan, aim, objectives, documentation and timelines.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • A demonstrated commitment to health equity and a respect for lived experience involvement in research programs.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within university and health service settings.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in budget development, financial management and cost control to achieve project deliverables, operational and budgetary goals and contractual arrangements.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly consult, negotiate and liaise with stakeholders and senior managers both internal and external to the organisation in a professionally and culturally sensitive manner.
