National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre

The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at UNSW Sydney, is Australia's leading research group in the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector. NDARC has been at the forefront of evidence-based responses to health challenges associated with AOD since 1986. Through our rigorous research programs and partnerships, NDARC continues to make significant contributions towards addressing the complex challenges associated with AOD use in contemporary society.

The Opportunity

Play a key role in supporting research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in medicinal cannabinoids and opioid dependence within the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre. The position will provide technical and research assistance to senior research staff in activities associated with various research projects, including the contribution and application of knowledge in the field of opioid dependence, medicinal cannabinoids, and incarceration across a range of projects (including systematic reviews, data linkage and surveys) conducted within the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre.

Key skills and experience required:

  • A university degree in Behavioural Science, Epidemiology or related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
  • Knowledge, familiarity or demonstrated experience in working and delivering projects aimed at supporting socially disadvantaged groups to achieve improved health outcomes
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Knowledge of research protocols, systematic reviews, developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prepare reports, proofread, and edit manuscripts and other documentation for varied audiences.
