Recently launched in February 2026, the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS) is the first research Centre in the world dedicated solely to understanding and improving life after a cancer diagnosis. Established through a landmark $40 million collaboration between the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Cancer Council NSW, ARCCS leads world-class research to improve outcomes for cancer survivors – informing practice, services and policy across Australia – and ultimately helping people to not just survive after cancer but thrive.

Position Summary

The Project Officer plays a key role within the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship, providing high‑quality project coordination and administrative support to enable the effective delivery of the Centre’s strategic and engagement priorities. Central to the smooth functioning of the Centre, the role combines operational, project management, and creative support across a diverse range of activities.

Key responsibilities include planning, tracking, and coordinating a range of Centre‑wide projects, with a primary focus on delivering engagement, communications, and marketing activities. This includes coordinating projects, events, meetings, and activities, and supporting marketing and communications activities such as mail outs, social media, and content development. The role also supports the delivery of broader project initiatives across the Centre and contributes to ongoing operational effectiveness through continuous process improvement.

Some Key Skills required:

  • Demonstrated experience in project and event coordination
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience with social media and designing promotional content highly regarded
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience driving process improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, while also taking initiative and working independently when required. Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
