Job Summary

Vascular Surgery is seeking a Practice & Patient Care Coordinator to Support the Pediatric and Vein Programs

Responsibilities

Pediatric Program

  • Logistics, EPIC, and OR: This role will support the operational needs working with the EPIC team, clinic team, and OR team at Intermountain. We are finding that working with them takes significantly longer than any operational request at the U. In addition, the cases are unique and require more support preparing the OR for each specific case.
  • Additional clinics starting July 2026: We plan to open additional clinics in July at the Lehi location. The patient care coordinator will plan to attend these clinics since Intermountain is providing the medical assistance and other support. They will be the liaison for the attending and the Intermountain team.
  • Request from attendings: The current pediatric scheduling coordinator, attends the clinic and she meets the parents and patients in-person after coordinating their care. The feedback from these families is overwhelmingly positive and it contributes to an efficient clinic.

Vein Program

  • In-person coordination at the clinic: This role will be in-person when we open our new vein clinic later this year to receive patients, schedule appointments, answer phones, etc.
  • Developing workflows: We need a patient-interacting support for Dr. Johnson in setting up workflow and protocol for the new clinic. In addition to our regular treatments, we are adding procedures and the workload will increase in the weeks ahead.
  • APC support: we are currently hiring a vein APC so we need a coordinator to onboard and continue supporting the APC independent clinics. We also have four part-time APCs currently holding vein clinics.
  • Point of Contact for Hospital Team: As we transition to our new location, we need someone who can coordinate with the hospital team as questions arise from patients and providers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) in public health, health education, health promotion, management, behavior science, social science, social work or nursing with 2 years relevant work experience or Medical Assistant with State of Utah, National Certification, or equivalency and 5 years of clinical experience.

Demonstrated ability to lead as well as function effectively as a member of a team and successfully promote change. Strong analytical, organization and leadership skills. PC/Windows literate with working knowledge of the following Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word and Excel. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.

This is a patient-sensitse position.

Preferred Experience

Working knowledge of quality improvement and project management methodologies, tools and techniques and principles of change management. Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate and mentor project teams preferably using QI methods (i.e., PDSA). Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) applications.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
