Job Description

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Medicine - Pediatrics is seeking a part-time (4 hours per week), contractual C1 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to independently provide ambulatory or acute care in a clinical setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute episodic and chronic illnesses and patient health, and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services. Exercises autonomy in medical decision making. Ensures informed consent is properly secured and documented.
• Communicates with other professionals (i.e. counselor and PCP) working with patients.
• Attends clinical team meetings
• Provides clinical consultation for staff and clinical interns/externs.
• Provides training to medical students, pediatric residents, clinical interns/externs, and staff.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master's in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing

Experience: Current national certification from AANPNCB or other national certifying body (requires 18 months under a NP mentor before becoming certified) is required.

Supervisory Experience: n/a

Certification/Licensure: Current Maryland license in good standing issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing to practice as a nurse practitioner or appropriate federal district licensure where research is conducted. Licensed with specific patient population and/or specialty area of practice is required.

Other: Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
