Job Summary
Chabot College is seeking applicants for a PT Instructor, Humanities pool and anticipated part-time teaching opportunities in the Humanities Program. All applicants are expected to meet the California State Community College Minimum Qualifications for Humanities instructors (below). Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee employment or an interview. Evaluation of application materials will start immediately assignments are open until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruction of up to 10 units of Humanities courses per semester. The anticipated Humanities courses are as follows: HUMN 60: Creativity and the Community; HUMN 65: The American Style; and HUMN 68: World Mythology;
- Part-time faculty have responsibilities in regards to their classroom assignment, evaluation of students, curriculum, student advising, professional development, holding office hours, and any assignment-specific needs;
- Participation in program and subject area improvement tasks such as creating and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), program review, and curriculum development.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters in physics, astronomy or astrophysics OR Bachelors in physics or astronomy AND Masters in engineering, mathematics, meteorology or geophysics OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications
- Ability to teach in-person morning sections;
- Ability to teach online sections.
