Open to: Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people. For this position it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted by and arguable under sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Queensland Node Co-ordinator, Indigenous Genomics Network to join School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health.
This is an identified position and only open to applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. The role requires a person who can demonstrate a strong understanding of, and commitment to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, leadership, and interests. Under the leadership of a Queensland Chief Investigator team, the Queensland Node Co-ordinator (QNC) will establish a jurisdictional node to support development of a National Roadmap for implementation of Pharmacogenomics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Additionally, and as an experienced manager, the QNC will ensure key deliverables, including: the establishment of local Indigenous governance structures; consultation, engagement, and involvement of partners and stakeholders; participation in the National Network activities; developing and co-ordinating workforce development initiatives with stakeholders; and supporting the development of local and national Indigenous genomic policies. This position will be based in Brisbane; however, flexible working arrangements can be negotiated. Intra-state and interstate travel will be required. This position will work under the leadership and guidance of a Queensland CI group, reporting to a QUT based CI and supported by an Indigenous CI based at CQUniversity. This position reports to A/Prof Shivashankar H Nagaraj for supervision, career planning, development and performance expectations.

What you need to succeed
- Education training and/or experience equivalent to a degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience in an area such as business administration, project management, bio-medical science, public or population health, health, research, policy, and/or Aboriginal and/or Torres strait Islander studies.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, peoples, families, communities, service providers and organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting or supporting research involving Aboriginal and/or Torres people, peoples and communities.
- Demonstrated project management experience and skills, including financial/budget management.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement experience and expertise; particularly in relation to working with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and their interests.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, and experience working with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interests and stakeholders.
- Strong strategic, operational and organisational management skills, including demonstrated ability to set goals, identify priorities and meet deadlines.
