The Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard and the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Department of Neurology seek an outstanding scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to conduct basic or translational research based at the Ragon Institute. The Ragon Institute was established in 2009 as a joint institute comprised of faculty from MGH, MIT, and Harvard University with a focus on human immunology and host-pathogen interactions. The MGB Department of Neurology provides superior clinical care while rapidly discovering treatments to reduce and eliminate the devastating impact of neurological disorders. The Ragon Institute and MGB Department of Neurology are searching for a candidate who will have a joint appointment and develop an innovative, dynamic research program.
We aim to attract candidates with diverse backgrounds whose research aligns with the missions of the Department of Neurology and the Ragon Institute. Particular areas of mutual interest include human neuroimmunology, systems neuroimmunology, computational biology, and immune aspects of neurodegeneration. The successful applicant will establish an extramurally funded research program, collaborate with members of the Department and the Ragon Institute, and contribute to training and developing research fellows.
Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) and have a record of scholarly achievement and productive collaborations with other investigators. The candidate’s appointment will be jointly in the Department of Neurology at MGB and at the Ragon Institute with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. We seek candidates with a clear commitment to diversity and inclusion, multidisciplinary collaborative science, and education and mentorship of trainees. Individuals with an MD will have the opportunity to engage in patient care in the MGB Department of Neurology.
The successful candidate will be provided with a generous start-up package in addition to laboratory and office space in the newly constructed Ragon Institute building in Kendall Square, and access to state-of-the-art facilities with extensive core resources including advanced flow cytometry, microscopy, BSL2/3 facilities, a vivarium, and a large clinical specimen repository. Salary, start-up, and lab space will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements.
