Position involves preparing for and teaching the range of courses in assigned discipline area to achieve course requirement and student success outcomes. Course assignments will be in both a classroom and learning lab setting.
This position supports the Rapid Training Welding program in Bad Axe, MI. Strong working relationships with area manufacturers, fabrication shops, and industry partners are preferred.
Examples of Duties
- Teach assigned welding courses, incorporating safety standards and environmental best practices into instruction.
- Maintain and oversee the welding lab to ensure a safe, organized, and fully operational learning environment.
- Collaborate with Tech Center staff to coordinate training needs, including supplies, equipment, and student progress updates.
- Implement and follow established departmental syllabi and curriculum guidelines.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic and skill development.
- Maintain accurate classroom records, including attendance, grades, and related documentation.
- Prepare and set up the welding lab for instruction, ensuring student workstations, tools, equipment, and materials are ready for use.
- Partner with local manufacturers to support competency-based objectives and measurable outcomes for the Rapid Training Welding program and related courses.
- Maintain and report required lab documentation, including inventory and other program-related records.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives. Adheres to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures support for the Teaching Profession Code of Ethics.
- Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.

Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
- Associates degree preferred.
- Welding Certification required.
Experience:
- Two years of experience working in professional welding setting.
- Experience working as a welding instructor, preferred.
- Previous experience in a community college preferred.
