Refrigeration Maintenance Coordinator

About This Opportunity

Step into a pivotal role as a Refrigeration Maintenance Coordinator (Client Facility Coordinator) and support the reliable operation of UQ’s complex and highly specialised facilities.

Working within the Property and Facilities Division, you will support the Client Facility Manager (Remote Sites) and take responsibility for coordinating and delivering refrigeration and mechanical plant maintenance services across a high‑demand precinct.

This role combines hands‑on refrigeration trade expertise with planning, coordination and stakeholder engagement, and is ideal for an experienced refrigeration professional looking to step into a senior coordination role while remaining technically involved.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate statutory, preventative and corrective maintenance activities for refrigeration and associated mechanical systems
  • Provide specialist refrigeration and plant advice to clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
  • Undertake fault‑finding and contribute to maintenance works within your area of expertise as required
  • Oversee asset condition, maintenance programs and project milestones to ensure safety, compliance and continuity of operations
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors to ensure works are completed to specification, on schedule and within budget
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders and deliver high‑quality client service
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, plant performance and cost effectiveness
  • Maintain compliance with all University policies, procedures and safety standards
  • Promote a strong safety culture and participate in an after‑hours on‑call roster

About You

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Refrigeration Maintenance Coordinator with strong technical capability and the ability to coordinate services in complex operational environments.

You will have:

  • A QLD Refrigerant Handling Licence (Restricted Electrical Licence highly desirable)
  • A refrigeration trade background with hands‑on experience in maintaining refrigeration and mechanical plant systems
  • Experience working in large, complex facilities such as research, laboratory, health, industrial or institutional environments
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and sound judgement in managing competing maintenance priorities
  • The ability to build productive working relationships and act as a trusted adviser to clients
  • Well‑developed communication, coordination and influencing skills
  • Willingness to undertake further training as required
  • Availability to participate in an after‑hours on‑call roster

Sound knowledge of:

  • Large reticulated chilled water systems
  • Refrigeration plant and associated mechanical systems
  • First‑line fault‑finding on fume cupboards
  • Compressed air and vacuum systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including; right to work in Australia.
