Salary: The minimum annual starting salary is $62,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Job Profile: Outreach Specialist

Job Summary: Extension works with farmers to address production challenges and incorporate research findings. This position serves livestock producers in Grant, Green, Iowa, and Lafayette counties, focusing on improving efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop outreach programs for livestock management issues.
  • Develop expertise in livestock production and share with colleagues statewide.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Deliver program content, communicate plans, schedule resources, monitor budgets, evaluate curriculum, and maintain partnerships.

Department: Division of Extension, Agriculture Institute, Dairy and Livestock Program.

About Extension, Institute, and Program: UW-Madison’s Division of Extension addresses issues through research-based education. The Agriculture Institute advances sustainable practices, and the Dairy and Livestock Program supports Wisconsin’s dairy industry.

Required Qualifications: Three or more years of relevant experience, skills in applying research findings, effective communication, and ability to work with diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in building partnerships, interpersonal skills, program development, understanding of research data, grant writing, and fiscal management.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in a related field.
