Registered Nurse - Child Protection Program Fellowship

Department Summary:

The Child Protection Program (CPP) at Boston Children's Hospital was established in 1970 by a multidisciplinary team of professionals who shared a commitment to improve the health and well-being of children by addressing the issues of family violence and child maltreatment. The core goal of the CPP since its formation is to ensure that children suspected of being maltreated receive appropriate medical care, psychosocial support, and advocacy to address immediate medical and safety needs.

There are three distinct branches within the Child Protection Program: the Child Protection Team Consult Service, the domestic violence program (AWAKE), and outpatient clinical services.

The RN Fellowship is an immersive program designed to support an experienced registered nurse, with an interest in transitioning in practice in Child Protection.

Key responsibilities:

  • Participating in didactic lessons, simulations, and practice-based learning as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Addressing the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, risk factors, evaluation and interventions across the spectrum of child abuse, neglect and maltreatment in the hospital and ambulatory settings.
  • Interacting with patients, families and peers in a variety of settings, including the outpatient Foster Care Clinic and Crisis Response Clinic, Primary Care, Emergency Department and inpatient settings.
  • Participating in daily team rounds, weekly Clinical Operations Meetings and educational trainings hosted by the Child Protection Program.
  • Upon completion of the fellowship, the RN Fellow will be expected to give a final presentation of scholarly work related to their fellowship experience.

Minimum qualifications:

Education:
BSN

Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years RN experience.
Pediatric RN experience preferred.

License/Certification:
MA RN license.

This Fellow position is full time for one year from start date. Please attach a cover letter for consideration.

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
