Job Description
The Department of Politics and Philosophy in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in American Politics with a focus on Public Law, Constitutional Law, or Judicial Politics. Appointment will begin August 2026. The department is particularly interested in recruiting candidates with a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) and those with experience coaching or advising a mock trial team.
Candidates are expected to show a strong potential for excellence in research and teaching, and should have a Ph.D. in hand by the date of appointment, but ABDs close to completion may also be considered.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Political Science
- Research expertise in Public Law, Constitutional Law, or Judicial Politics
- Teaching experience in Constitutional Law
- Teaching experience in Civil Liberties
- Teaching experience in Local Government Law
Preferred Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.)
- Experience coaching or advising a mock trial team
- Strong potential for excellence in research
- Strong potential for excellence in teaching
