Overview
Princeton Alumni Weekly (PAW), an editorially independent publication that reaches more 100,000 alumni, staff, faculty, and others each month, has an opportunity for a one-year fellowship as a journalist.
This fellowship is an opportunity to work with our team of experienced journalists, collaborate with staff members and freelancers, and work on a variety of projects. The position is primarily as a writer reporting on University news, student life, campus issues, alumni profiles, and other projects. This role is based in Princeton.
Responsibilities
Reporting and Writing:
- Contribute to coverage of campus news, student life, and University research projects.
- Produce in-depth and quick-turn profiles of alumni.
- Assist in multimedia production, including podcasts and video.
- Develop at least one project during tenure.
Digital development:
- Help manage and create content for PAWs website and newsletters.
Social media:
- Provide content and help manage PAW’s social media accounts
Outreach:
- Work with PAW staff on outreach and engagement efforts with alumni and campus community.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite products, particularly Acrobat
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Positive attitude, team player, and willingness to assist in various tasks.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic graphic design
- Familiarity with web-publish tools and CMS.
