Job Summary:
The Department of Pathology is excited to recruit a motivated candidate who will fill the role of Research Administrator (Research Services Principal Professional). The successful candidate will oversee research program administration, operational support and post-award financial management of grants and contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Post-award finance reports - 20%
- Monthly oversight of all PI's grants and funding sources Include pilot awards (i.e. Cancer Center): maintain communication with the UCCC per Pathology faculty pilot grants and request CC' on reports
- Projections of expenditures; total supplies/month; personnel/month (dashboards)
- Meet with PIs every other month or more frequently as needed to evaluate payroll distributions
- Work with Department Administrators on Payroll distributions and PETs
- Assist PASS Core/PIs with other support (OS) and progress report (RPPR) information - 10%
- Maintain current OS for all Research PIs; update quarterly
- Coordinate with OGC and PASS core for pending grant submissions (PI, MPI and Co-PI)
- Communicate with PASS core per effort on proposal for RPPR submissions
- Research equipment - 10%
- Maintain database of current pathology research equipment including location and maintenance records
- Assist the chair of the equipment committee with tracking service contracts
- Database will note dates of latest service, renewal dates, and research person responsible
- Calculate annual costs of equipment maintenance
- Assist with filling out green tag forms for disposable equipment (research personnel will send info and are responsible for wiping down equipment)
- Research Travel awards - 10%
- Initiate and maintain web application form
- Ensure applications are distributed to award committee
- Send award notices to trainees CC'ing pathology travel
- Maintain current list of pathology trainees - 10%
- Include lab, student or postdoctoral fellow, email
- Coordinate with Path IT for email lists for trainees and research personnel, update semiannually
- Webspace - 10%
- Coordinate with SOM liaisons for space assignments
- Keep updates list of lab personnel/space assignments
- Assist Vice Chair for Research - 10%
- Research faculty meetings: update on current grants/awards and other honors for newsletter
- Assist with lunch orders for Grants and Grub and/or Faculty meetings or recruitments
- Maintain current research faculty email distribution list
- Maintain a digital display of research events and information (TBD)
- Maintain SOP for new faculty onboarding - 10%
- Include information on how to access Marketplace, Procurement, department contacts
- Facilities and routine orders - 10%
- Maintain dry ice and liquid nitrogen orders
- Communicate and coordinate with facilities for repairs, work orders, etc.
- Maintain stock of office supplies
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 3-5 years of professional experience in laboratory management or research administration.
- An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in health or business administration, accounting, finance, or other closely related field
- Experience working with University of Colorado Systems or equivalent academic institution (ex: PeopleSoft HCM and FIS, Concur, iLabs, etc).
- Experience working with standard accounting policies and procedures
- Higher education budget management, modeling and forecasting experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of project and laboratory management
- Demonstrated experience working in Excel, Microsoft Office and Outlook, Google documents, and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
