Research Assistant (110702-0725)

We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Research Assistant to join the new laboratory of Dr. Iqbal Dulloo in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Warwick. This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone with a background in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, cellular virology, or a related discipline who is eager to contribute to cutting-edge discoveries in cell signalling.

The lab is launching an ambitious plan to investigate the role of membrane proteases in cellular communication, particularly in how they influence transcriptional responses in health and disease. This work builds on our recent discovery of a novel ER-to-nucleus signalling pathway regulated by the signal peptidase complex.

As a key member of this growing team, you will drive your own experiments under the mentorship of Dr. Dulloo, while also providing support and expertise to collaborators within the group. You will be encouraged and supported to develop professionally and personally through tailored career development resources.

This position is funded by a Medical Research Council Career Development Award and can be extended further after the initial 12 months.

Project Title: The role of signal peptidase complex in controlling membrane-bound transcriptional regulators in health and disease.

We and the wider University of Warwick environment offer substantial opportunities for professional development including regular opportunities to attend international conferences.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a dynamic new team at a globally recognised university.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary collaborations across Warwick and beyond.
  • Receive tailored mentorship and development opportunities.
  • Work in state-of-the-art facilities within a supportive and inclusive environment.

About YouWe are looking for someone with:

  • A completed or close-to-complete Master’s degree (MBiochem, MSc, MRes) in cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, virology or a related area.
  • Hands-on experience with standard wet lab techniques including DNA/RNA/protein extraction and analysis, cloning, western blotting, immunofluorescence, mammalian cell culture, and flow cytometry.
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative attitude toward scientific problem-solving.

We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates who are enthusiastic about joining a new lab environment, excited by scientific discovery, and eager to grow with the research group as it develops.

For informal enquiries, please contact Iqbal Dulloo (Assistant Professor (MRC Fellowship)).
