Departmental Lecturer in Psychodynamic Counselling

Oxford Lifelong Learning (Oxford University Department for Continuing Education) is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Psychodynamic Counselling.

About the role

The Psychodynamic Studies and Psychology portfolio at Oxford Lifelong Learning (Department for Continuing Education) comprises a range of open access Weekly Classes and Short Online Courses, Day & Weekend events, lecture series and summer schools. It also includes Continuing Professional Development courses and a number of postgraduate award-bearing courses: the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling, the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice and MSt in Psychodynamic Practice.

The Departmental Lecturer in Psychodynamic Counselling will be the Course Director of the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling. They will also have academic oversight of the psychology and counselling provision in the open access Weekly Class programme and Short Online Course programme, Day & Weekend events, lecture series, summer schools and CPD courses.

The postholder will have a specialism in Psychodynamic Counselling and teach on courses relevant to their subject-area expertise. They must have UPCA (Universities Psychotherapy & Counselling Association) accreditation and the potential to be on the UKCP Register. They will be part of the academic community of the Department and engage in advanced scholarship.

This is a 0.6 FTE position, available on a permanent contract. The Postgraduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling is taught in person at Rewley House, Oxford, on Wednesday evenings over three ten-week terms with two Saturday workshops.

We are seeking a scholar who has excellent teaching and pedagogical skills, and who has a track-record of scholarship, or the potential for scholarship, engaging with current critical and theoretical debates in the discipline. This includes issues of difference and diversity.
