The Atmospheric Chemistry group in HKUST focus on the two major regional air pollution problems in many developed and developing regions, i.e., photochemical smog and haze. Our research is trying to understand the complicated air pollution matrix via field monitoring, lab experiments, and modeling approaches, and to conduct cutting-edge fundamental research on atmospheric chemistry. Collaborated with many international institutes and the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department, the group is working on various research projects, including ship-borne air quality measurement, oxygenated VOCs characterization, O3 and SOA formation, etc.
The Atmospheric Chemistry group is looking for a couple of individuals who will participate in field study, laboratory experiments, and data analysis of those air quality research projects. The appointees will assist the Group Leader to perform research tasks, including field measurement, collecting samples and data, conducting laboratory analysis, data analysis and reporting. The appointees will also assist in planning and implementing all aspects of research, coordinating with government officers and collaborators.
Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have a good honors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, or related disciplines, with relevant research work experience.
Applicants should also:
- have strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills;
- be highly motivated, committed and can work independently; and
- have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
