This position is ideal for candidates with experience in basic data management and analysis, population health principles, and literature reviews. The role offers opportunities to develop skills in data curation, study design, project management, and communication. You will work closely with senior clinicians, patients, parents, and members of the public, making strong communication skills and confidence essential to effectively support stakeholders and advocate for the programme.

This role offers a varied and impactful experience with significant opportunities for professional growth and contribution to important healthcare research. The postholder will work independently to solve problems and play a key role in shaping the delivery of the programme. There will be opportunities for the postholder to develop their own research interests, with the potential to progress to a DPhil (PhD) in population health. The postholder will support day-to-day operations and contribute to the programme’s ongoing development, taking lead responsibility for several core elements of the programme, contributing ideas to help transform care for children with surgical conditions across the UK.

Key responsibilities will include overseeing data collection for the CSOR database, liaising with parents and clinicians, and monitoring data completeness. The postholder will collaborate with the wider team to improve data quality, summarise relevant literature, and support the development of data collection tools that integrate with hospital systems. The postholder should have excellent written and spoken English and hold a first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, with related experience. Experience in research data collection involving professionals and the public is essential.

Strong independent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are required. The postholder must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with senior clinical staff, writing for publication, presenting findings, and delivering training or teaching. Experience producing reports, publications, newsletters, and presentations is desirable. The role also requires the ability to manage research and administrative tasks independently, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.
