Job Description

Job Summary:

The Fishman Laboratory in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled research assistant to work on a project involving genetics to dissect function of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will work closely with scientists in the lab and will perform daily activities, including:
  • Generation of transgenic zebrafish and their analysis;
  • Molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, DNA and protein extraction, immunostaining;
  • Recording and analysis of experimental data;
  • Operation and maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

One year of experience with basic biological laboratory techniques is required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

BA/BS in biology, genetics or related science is preferred as is at least one year of directly related lab experience. Excellent communication, demonstrated organization skills, attention to detail and dexterity. Ability to work independently, as well as a team member. Prior experience with zebrafish or model organisms is a plus.

  • Appointment End Date: This is a one-year term position
  • Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that all duties and responsibilities must be performed at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
