Research Assistant in Genome Editing

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the new MRC Centre of Research Excellence in Therapeutic Genomics programme. The postholder will join Professors James Davies and Ronjon Chakraverty in researching genome editing methods for treating patients with primary immune deficiencies. The research project combines advanced genome editing and genomics approaches.

You will work to develop novel gene editing strategies that can eventually be used in clinical trials, managing your own research including laboratory experiments and analysis, with guidance provided by senior colleagues. Responsibilities include writing Standard Operating Procedures for use of reagents and equipment, quality assurance and quality control, ensuring standardisation and reproducibility of biological assays, nucleic acid sequencing and analysis.

You will hold an undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences with a working knowledge of data analysis including statistical analysis of data. Experience of molecular biology techniques, cell culture with an understanding of methods of purifying cell populations is essential. Specialist knowledge and direct, practical experience in CRISPR-based genome editing is essential. Knowledge of genomics techniques including ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq and chromosome conformation capture techniques are desirable.

The post is fixed-term for 3 years, funded by the Medical Research Council.
