Research Associate, El- Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Public Policy (Fixed Term)

Cambridge Judge Business School combines academic excellence with real world impact to transform individuals, organisations and society. Since 1990, it has built a strong reputation for rigorous thinking and genuinely transformative education as part of one of the world's leading research universities.

We invite applications for a Research Associate to join the El- Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Public Policy (EEI), based in central Cambridge at Cambridge Judge Business School. The Institute's mission is to identify innovative ways to address pressing social and policy challenges by bringing together the expertise of Cambridge Judge faculty and researchers from across the University.

As a core member of the EEI team, you will help to advance the Institute's research and teaching agenda and contribute to maintaining the School's and University's reputation for excellence. Working closely with the El- Erian Professor of Behavioural Economics and Public Policy and colleagues, you will design and run laboratory and field experiments and survey based studies, including with hard to reach populations; collect, manage and analyse complex data using advanced quantitative methods; interpret findings for publications and policy relevant outputs; and contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications.

You should hold a PhD in (social) psychology or a closely related discipline, with strong training in experimental and quantitative methods. You will need excellent skills in quantitative analysis, including extensive experience with Python and familiarity with both frequentist and Bayesian approaches. You should have substantial experience designing and leading experimental studies and behavioural interventions, experience of policy engagement and collaboration with external stakeholders, and a strong record of working both independently and as part of a team.

Please submit your online application form along with a cover letter, your CV, a statement covering your research and teaching expertise, a job market paper (or another signature publication of yours), and the names and contact details of two referees. Two references will be requested for candidates who are shortlisted for an interview.

Fixed term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years.

The interviews will take place on 13 March 2026.
