A research Associate is required to deliver the HYDERUS+ project, aiming to assess the technoeconomic feasibility of clean Hydrogen production and heat/power supply to buildings within a regional hub. The commercial viability of the approach to Hydrogen generation for decentralised heat/power will be appraised for the unique requirements of local stakeholders.

Project Objectives:

  1. Compare the feasibility of alternative H2 technologies for the provision of heat/power.
  2. Generate simulation data that will demonstrate a credible approach to H2 deployment with CO2/O2 capture/export technology.
  3. Specify site to develop a commercially viable system to retrofit utility and byproduct supply to local buildings. The successful candidate will work as part of the research team at Cardiff’s Gas Turbine Research Centre (GTRC).

This position is funded through SWITCH Net Zero Wales in collaboration with Swansea University and CR Plus.

The candidate would be expected work between offices in Cardiff and GTRC with occasional visits to the Neath Port Talbot region.

This post is full (35 hours per week), available from September 2025 and is fixed term for 12 months.

Salary: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6). We do not anticipate appointing this position above point 32, salary £41,064 per annum.
