Job Summary
The individual selected for this position will be responsible for conducting and maintaining research projects in laboratories and greenhouses for faculty in the Department of Horticulture.
This is a one year limited term position and is funded from external sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Data collection, management, and analysis
- Operation of research instrumentation
- Supervision of graduate and undergraduate students
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
The selected individual will be expected to regularly communicate with research faculty and will be expected to be part of research planning and implementation.

Minimum Qualifications
Research Associate I
Master's degree in Horticulture or closely related field; no experience required.
Research Associate II
Master's degree in Horticulture or closely related field and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position.
*Substitution allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated technical excellence and ability to work both independently and in a team environment required.
Minimum Technology Skills
General experience in word processing and spreadsheet software.
Minimum License and Certifications
A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment is required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with hydroponic and aquaponic vegetable research
- Experience with greenhouse vegetable production
Salary Range: $41,000 - $72,540
