CUSP UO (Urban Observatory) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part Time Research Associate to work in CUSP UO lab development.

New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world.

Through the novel use of observational and analytical techniques, the Urban Observatory at New York University’s Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP-UO) studies the complex interactions between the physical, natural, and human components of the city as a coherent, definable system with the goal of enhancing public well-being, city operations, and future urban plans. Candidates will be responsible for helping and contributing in the deployment and development of CUSP urban observatory equipment and coding. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in Urban Science. Previous experience on coding development is necessary.

Salary range: In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the base salary for this position is an hourly rate $26.37 for part time depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

Expected start date and period of employment: Expected start date is: 09/01/2025. This position is expected to be for 12 months. This is a part time appointment and would require a work schedule of approximately 20 hours per week.

Candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Urban Engineering or related field. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.

Applicants should submit the following information: Cover letter, up-to-date CV that includes a complete list of publications, names and contact information for three references, and other additional information needed (e.g., research statement, publications). All application materials should be submitted electronically via Interfolio. Review of applications will begin as soon as possible and will continue until the position is filled.
